About The Position

Hunger Free Oklahoma is seeking a full-time Child Nutrition Hunger Outreach Program Specialist to support our Federal Child Nutrition Program outreach and implementation across Oklahoma – including, but not limited to, Afterschool Meals, Summer Meals, School Breakfast and Lunch, WIC. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about working collaboratively with stakeholders and providing support through outreach, technical assistance, convening, research, and guidance. They are an effective verbal and visual communicator, facilitator, trainer, and presenter and prioritize excellent customer service. They engage in collaborative decision making to provide thoughtful, dynamic, and creative solutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and have 4-6 or more combined years of post-secondary education and/or work experience in a relevant field
  • Experience in child nutrition programs, community partnerships, program coordination, or a related field
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, presenting, and facilitation skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable in developing and improving workflows
  • Ability to collect and apply best practices, build subject matter expertise and support both internal teams and external partners
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and comfortable using tools like Salesforce, Planner, and other program-management platforms
  • Experience performing needs assessments (3 years or more, strongly preferred)
  • Experience helping schools navigate child nutrition programs (3 or more years, strongly preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to independently travel to sites across the state for up to 25% of working time
  • May require occasional evening and weekend work to support events and programming
  • Ability to perform medium physical effort consisting of occasionally handling, lifting, or moving objects 20-30 pounds for handling resources and supplies, and to sit or stand to complete office-oriented work an average of 8 hours a day

Nice To Haves

  • Background in project management, community development, and/or customer service is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Build working knowledge of federal child nutrition programs; develop and implement outreach, communication, training, and technical assistance strategies; increase program awareness, access, and participation
  • Cultivate strong relationships, networks, and strategic partnerships across the state; serve as a resource, connector and facilitator
  • Utilize research, best practices, and data to inform strategy and development of new resources and support tools; collect data and feedback to inform program improvements
  • Provide coordination and operational support, maintain project documentation and tools; utilize available tools to track and meet project timelines and deliverables; support projects and project stakeholders; support continuous learning and improvement and implementation of project plans; track child nutrition partner engagement and services delivered
  • Support the Oklahoma Childhood Food Security Coalition meetings; recruit, communicate and engage with members to advance coalition objectives; identify, support, and distribute training and capacity building resources to partners; coordinate with HFO staff to ensure relevant staff participation
