About The Position

Prepare weekly food items for all kitchen sites based on needs and forecasting. Provide exceptional customer service to all kitchen sites as the QCUSD float. Assist as needed in the kitchen depending on the needs of the department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Food Handler's Certificate
  • Certified Child Nutrition Manager's Card or the ability to obtain one
  • Must have current Arizona driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Must be creative and service oriented; good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of kitchens and service areas; ability to effectively plan and organize workload
  • Ability to set up buffet luncheons and serve; to include table decorations and attractive food presentations
  • Available to work evenings and Saturdays as needed; must be self-starter and able to complete assignments without direct supervision
  • Working knowledge of food ordering, food production and use of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to perform frequent stopping, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds; must be willing to serve in other areas as needed
  • Knowledge of National School Lunch Program regulations
  • Experience using a computer (internet, email) and computer software related to menu, bookkeeping and word processing
  • Ability to operate computerized cash register
  • Knowledge of HACCP (food safety) and workplace safety requirements
  • Ability to work with figures and to make arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to communicate with parents, staff and students on Child Nutrition program
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations and rules
  • Must pass a background clearance.
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Child Nutrition merchandising experience/ability to assemble food party trays

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, serving, cashiering, and clean up at different locations
  • Assist in training new employees on cashiering procedures and guidelines
  • Assist with the presentation, service, cash, food, safety and varied aspects of the department catering events
  • Responsible for merchandising and promotional activities as requested
  • Assist with the planning and organization of catering requests
  • Set up and serve at all special activities, working evenings when needed
  • Maintain records, quality food preparation, cost effective production and labor control
  • Provide catering program support to include: Efficient and economic operation of kitchen, accurate preparation of all reports and maintain records including personnel records and time keeping
  • Enforce District and Child Nutrition policies
  • Performs all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
