About The Position

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Child Life Assistant in Comer Children's Hospital. In this role, you will provide recreational and educational activities for hospitalized children and adolescents based on developmentally appropriate needs. Our Child Life Assistant will also maintain Child Life Service patient areas in an orderly manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong interest in working in a child-friendly environment with hospitalized children
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Suite
• Ability to function as team player

Nice To Haves

• Students pursuing degree in child life or related field and interest in becoming a child life specialist.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for supporting the work of Child Life Specialists through the following: Materials management of toys, games, books and child life equipment.
• Provides recreational activities for patients
• Supports special programming in the playroom through preparation, implementation and evaluation
• Assists with bringing children to and from the playroom
• Assists in administrative tasks such as data entry, supply audits and ordering.
• Performs other duties as assigned
