The Child Life Assistant is responsible for implementing assigned developmentally appropriate group and/or individual recreational activities which promote socialization, self-awareness, self-expression, understanding, and provides supportive services to promote the development, maintenance and expression of an appropriate leisure/play and social lifestyle for pediatric patients and/or siblings under the direction of a Child Life Specialist. The Child Life Assistant’s responsibility will include inpatient and/or outpatient areas, as deemed appropriate. Work situations are of a routine nature but vary for day to day. This position requires a service-oriented individual, the use of discretion and good judgment, and a clear understanding of the growth, development, and needs of children. Internal contacts include Mary Bridge patient care staff and management. External contacts include patients, families, physicians, and outside organizations.
