UCFS is seeking a Child First Clinician I to provide intensive, home-based intervention with children, prenatal through age five, and their caregivers. The role focuses on strengthening the caregiver-child relationship by facilitating play and improving the caregiver’s capacity to reflect on the child’s behaviors. This position involves approximately 75% travel with 25% remote time, with an expected schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, including two late nights per week and possible weekend coverage. Child First is an evidence-based, relationship-focused, two-generation, home visiting approach that partners with families, infants, and young children from pregnancy through age 5, to enhance strong, loving relationships. It aims to support caregivers and their children by processing life stresses and traumas and enhancing healthy interaction patterns. The program is intentional in considering structural inequities and the impact of trauma, including historical trauma, oppression, and structural racism. The goal is to identify children early for connection to needed services and supports. The Child First Clinician partners with a Care Coordinator to support families, engaging with both caregiver and child in a supportive, reflective, and exploratory manner to foster a protective, nurturing, and responsive caregiver-child relationship. Therapeutic intervention focuses on healing from trauma, understanding developmental challenges, increasing caregivers' ability to reflect on behavior motivations, supporting problem-solving, and understanding the psychodynamic relationship between parental feelings, history, and child responses. Consultation to early care and education settings may also be provided.
