About The Position

Kids First Pocahontas is seeking a Child Development Technician who is passionate about children and their development. The role involves providing care and intervention for a group of young children, from birth to age 5, who have developmental delays and special medical needs. Kids First serves children aged six weeks to five years with special healthcare needs, offering intensive intervention in pediatric day healthcare clinics for children at risk for developmental delays and disabilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED PLUS six (6) months experience working in the care of children
  • Candidate must pass state abuse registry checks, drug screen, submit to a TB skin test and required immunizations or provide proof of immunizations.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to identify educational and developmental needs of children
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, and other child care professionals
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of early childhood curriculum
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Other education can be substituted for experience including CCOT, CDA, AA, or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related filed.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality direct patient care for a group of young children including serving mealtimes, assisting with feeding, diapering, and dressing.
  • Provides developmentally appropriate behavioral guidance within daily scheduled activities.
  • Follows the direction of the ECDS to provide individualized developmental services of their assigned treatment rooms in a manner that is child-centered, family focused, and demonstrates evidence-based or best practice.
  • Establishes exciting learning environments for young children and apply curriculum to address the objectives contained in each child’s treatment plan.
