The Child Development Coordinator will monitor the Child Development, Disabilities, Nutrition and Wellness program. This includes case reviews, classroom observations, child file reviews, in-house staffing, monthly CLASS reviews, child and classroom transitions, case notes, and coordination of services while maintaining confidentiality of child and family information. The role may also involve performing classroom teacher duties as necessary. The coordinator will provide direct supervision to Classroom Teachers and/or Assistant Teachers, conduct performance appraisals, and offer technical assistance. A key responsibility is recruiting and training volunteers to assist with child development duties such as screenings, assessments, home visits, parent/teacher conferences, lesson planning, individualization, and referrals for children with potential disabilities. Additionally, the coordinator will collaborate with the Center Manager to plan and coordinate various trainings for staff, parents, and volunteers, including First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, Blood borne Pathogen/Universal Precautions, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Child Abuse/Neglect. The position requires maintaining a database management system for Head Start Services in child development, Disabilities, and Mental Health, and providing ongoing training and technical assistance in these areas. Monitoring procedures for case reviews, health emergencies, injury/accident prevention, reporting, and follow-up for children with special needs is also crucial. The coordinator will assist in developing Professional Development Plans, coordinate new employee orientation and training, and monitor classroom teachers for compliance with job duties, classroom management, and adherence to policies and Head Start performance standards. Ensuring documentation is completed accurately and submitted timely, overseeing the implementation of Disabilities and Child Food and Adult Care program (CACFP) policies, and coordinating health, disability, and home visits are also key functions. The role involves ensuring children are always supervised and staff-child ratios are maintained, determining staff classroom teaching assignments, and managing the loading/unloading of children from buses. Assisting in budget management, reviewing and approving lesson plans, home visits, and field trips, and attending various meetings and program activities are also part of the responsibilities. The position may also include other assigned duties.
