About The Position

The Child Care Worker is responsible for providing child care within the Stepping Stone House, and other services as deemed necessary by the Program Director. This role involves maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for children, teaching parenting and child care skills to parents, and planning recreational activities and outings for children. The Child Care Worker also assists mothers in the bonding process during play time and supports Case Managers with services such as transportation and community linkage.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be age eighteen (18) or older.
• Must not have pled guilty to/been convicted of any offense in ORC109.572(c)(2)(a).
• Maintain CPR/First Aid treatment.
• Ability to interact well with children.
• Ability to work well with co-workers and clients in a pleasant manner.
• Knowledge about the disease of addiction.
• Ability to be organized, punctual, and work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Prior child care experience of at least one (1) year preferred and/or child care training.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for children by providing direct supervision to children on and off Stepping Stone House grounds.
• Teaches parenting and child care skills to parents.
• Plans recreational activities and outings for children; assists mothers in bonding process during play time.
• Assists Case Managers with services including, but not limited to, transportation and assistance with other community linkage, such as school activities and various appointments.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator/Director.
