About The Position

The Child Care Worker provides childcare services for adolescents, including personal care, hygiene, learning and developmental activities, and specialized programs. The role plans and develops activities, prepares and maintains records, and meets with Leads and Case Managers to discuss children’s progress. The employee uses positive parenting practices when addressing negative behaviors and helps maintain a clean and orderly property. The position is regular full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM ET. Work takes place in a normal childcare environment and may involve changing weather and outdoor activities at playgrounds, parks, beaches, and pools. A Level 2 background screening is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Two years of childcare experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of child behavior and development.
Valid state driver’s license and a driving record approved by Territorial Headquarters Risk Management.
Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
Must complete a Level 2 background screening.

Nice To Haves

Childcare experience with teens is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide constant care for children’s needs in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
Implement age-appropriate activity and development plans using discovery areas and hands-on activities.
Observe children’s needs and progress and communicate with the Lead or Case Manager, providing input and documentation about each child’s physical, emotional, social, and academic needs.
Plan and develop activities, prepare and maintain records, and meet with Leads or Case Managers to discuss children’s progress.
Use positive parenting practices when dealing with children’s negative behaviors.
Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the property.
