Child Care Teacher - Full Time
About The Position
Primrose School of Schertz is hiring a full-time Child Care Teacher. Teachers work in classrooms serving infants through school-age children, with staffing ratios aligned with national and state accreditation requirements. Two or three teachers are assigned to each classroom to support continuity of care, breaks, planning time, and PTO coverage. Overtime is available for employees who help cover a classroom when a teacher is absent. Paid training is provided. The school supplies classroom materials and describes its leadership team as focused on creating a safe, healthy environment where children and team members can thrive. The school is a privately owned and operated franchise; its Franchise Owner is the employer and sets the wage and benefits program.
Requirements
- Must meet the basic requirements of the local child care regulatory agency.
- Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds in connection with handling children, facilitating programs, ensuring child safety, and responding to potential emergencies.
- Infant and Young Toddler teachers must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib.
Nice To Haves
- Previous teaching or assistant teaching experience in a licensed early childhood program is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide care and facilitate programs for children in an early childhood classroom.
- Help maintain continuity of care and consistency in the classroom, including during breaks, planning time, and PTO coverage.
- Handle children as needed for program activities, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
- For Infant and Young Toddler teachers, properly lift infants into and out of a crib.
- Attend paid training to meet job expectations.
- Help cover a classroom when another teacher is absent, with overtime available.
