The Child Care Substitute will serve as a primary or assistant caregiver for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years, depending on the program. Responsibilities include physical caregiving, developmental assessments, and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans. The role requires adherence to program-specific guidelines for intake, attendance, food, and general care, as well as following emergency procedures. A key aspect of this role is exhibiting patience and flexibility to adapt to the varying needs of children, while maintaining clear communication with children, parents, and staff. A positive and encouraging attitude is essential. The position also involves maintaining First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification, acting as a Mandated Reporter for suspected child abuse and neglect, and maintaining confidentiality of family records and information. The role may involve lifting up to 40 pounds and performing other duties as assigned, including following established emergency protocols.
