Requirements

  • High school degree or GED
  • Two years of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
  • Ability to handle frequent client contact, conveying information clearly and concisely in writing and verbally and maintain a relationship with clients
  • Excellent interviewing and assessment skills
  • Knowledge of Child Care Subsidy Program Policy, general knowledge of Human Services/Social Services programs and knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to counsel clients in crisis situations, listening and responding appropriately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with clients and staff by listening, understanding and responding to identified needs
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in an environment with frequent changes, working in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient with NCFAST and proficient with basic computer skills and the aptitude to learn new software

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience as an Eligibility Caseworker in an Economic Services program (Child Care Subsidy, Medicaid, FNS, Energy, Work First)
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in human services or related
  • Proficient in NC FAST and OnBase or with a document management software system

Responsibilities

  • Complete full case management, including initial applications, recertifications, and processing client-submitted changes
  • Serve as the first point of contact for families by performing monthly Duty Person responsibilities (greeting walk-ins and assisting callers)
  • Support the team by managing vacant caseloads and maintaining an assigned caseload when needed
  • Process and apply policy-driven updates based on client and provider changes
  • Collaborate daily with Wake County Social Services partners, Public Health, the school system, and other community agencies to support diverse family needs
  • Participate in county emergency preparedness and response operations when required, which may include temporary reassignment or adjusted work hours/locations
