Designs, implements, and reviews age-appropriate curriculum, manages classroom activities and interactions, supervises assistant teachers, students and volunteers while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Essential Functions: Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children. Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well-being. Communicates effectively with parents regarding children's progress and behavior. Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 24 annual hours of Ohio-Approved Professional Development tracked by department, unless Associate's Degree or CDA certification is maintained, required.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students.
  • Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities.
  • Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit (on floor) in close proximity to children during play and activity periods. Constantly
  • Ability to lift a child into a crib and place them in it safely. Constantly
  • Ability to actively supervise children during gross motor play. Constantly
  • Ability to move rapidly in potentially unsafe physical situations: example: a child falling off the climber. Constantly
  • Ability to bend over quickly to pick up children by their torso, not by their arms. Constantly

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred.
  • Active Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of hire, preferred.
  • Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred.
