About The Position

This position is open only to Middlesex College Employees. The Child Care Group Leader is responsible for designing the educational curriculum, evaluating student growth, coordinating staff, developing lesson plans, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children. The role involves direct supervision of children, planning parent conferences, and maintaining professional development and records according to licensing requirements.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education
One (1) year of verifiable work experience in an early childhood setting
CDA credential or Group Teacher Credential recognized by Department of Children and Families
CPR certified or willing to get certified within two weeks of hire

Responsibilities

Designs the educational curriculum and evaluates student growth and development using TS Gold assessment tool.
Coordinates work assignments of staff in the classroom.
Develops, researches, implements, and submits weekly and daily lesson plans.
Assigns specific tasks to substitute workers, students, and volunteers assigned to them.
Completes specific housekeeping assignments in building and on grounds as assigned by the Director, including ratios set forth by licensing requirements.
Maintains more than 20 hours per year of professional development outlined by licensing requirements.
Maintains records for children’s evaluation as per Licensing and Grow NJ Kids protocols.
Plans and conducts parent conferences and summarizes them in written form twice per year; shares the results with other team members and staff.
Supervises children in classrooms and playground.
Completes proper paperwork of accidents and/or health problems of children for Director review.
Provides assistance, when necessary to other staff members in dealing with individual needs of children.
Performs other duties as assigned.
