Requirements

  • A high school diploma or a GED and 30 credits in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field; OR a high school diploma or a GED and 15 credits in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and one year of experience with children; OR a high school diploma or GED and two years experience working with children.
  • Has or is willing to obtain up-to-date clearances, CPR/First Aid certification, and health assessment.
  • Must meet all health and safety requirements (including daily routines like handwashing, brushing teeth with children, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a childcare or early education setting preferred
  • Comfortable working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age
  • Flexible and dependable, with excellent communication skills
  • Committed to ongoing learning and professional development

Responsibilities

  • Engage with children through developmentally appropriate activities
  • Plan and implement educational and play-based programming
  • Step into classrooms as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Foster strong relationships with staff, parents, and children
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment
  • Conduct developmental assessments and participate in parent-teacher conferences
  • Supervise and support aides, volunteers, and other support staff
  • Uphold all state and program regulations, including DHS, NAEYC, and STARS standards
