About The Position

Under the direction of the Child Care Program Director, the Child Care Program Coordinator will provide direct service at a primary Child Care site and assist in the operation of multiple Child Care sites, oversight of on-site staff, administrative duties as assigned and ensuring purposeful programming is meeting program standards. Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen training required within 60 days of employment.
  • Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogen and New Employee Orientation training required before/on first day of working with youth.
  • Possess an outgoing personality, be warm and friendly, and able to relate well to both children and adults.
  • Possess leadership and supervision qualities.
  • Will need to be sensitive, mature and fair to all.
  • Able to demonstrate creativity with daily planning and activities.
  • Be able to work Monday-Friday, during program times.
  • Be available outside of program hours to plan, train, and meet with supervisors.
  • Have reliable transportation to travel from one site to another during the program.
  • Have general knowledge of the YMCA’s mission and be able to convey it to the community.
  • Willing and able to communicate with parents and facility officials in a positive manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a related field or its equivalent in work experience is preferred.
  • Two to three years related experience (e.g., supervisor or coordinator of child care programs) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
  • Complete required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
  • Provide direct service for assigned child care program site and assist with oversight of supervision of children and staff for up to five program sites on a year-round basis in both Before & After School programs and Summer Day Camp programs.
  • Responsible for assuring high standards of program quality and safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and risk management policies.
  • Oversee Child Care programs for snow days and other school holidays/vacation days/days off as needed by the YMCA.
  • Must arrive for shifts on time and be prepared to stay for the entire shift in order to provide stability for program continuity.
  • Plan and implement quality program curriculum and lesson plans of the daily program, including Character Development, Arts and Crafts, STEM, active games, and snack.
  • Maintain a physically and mentally safe environment for the children.
  • Children must always be in the presence of staff.
  • Oversee and assist in maintaining a clean and organized school age site.
  • Oversee positive reinforcement and disciplinary needs of children.
  • Assist with licensing requirements and ensure program quality and staff, participant and family satisfaction.
  • Assist with the supervision of Child Care Team Leads.
  • Provide direction and motivation to all site staff.
  • Establish positive relationships and communicate effectively with parents, children and other staff members.
  • Maintain positive relationships with principals and personnel of the schools on behalf of the YMCA Before & After School program.
  • Assists with onboarding and training of on-site staff.
  • Assists with staff reviews and site evaluations.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and give input on programming issues.
  • Actively pursue training and learning opportunities and certifications relating to the position.
  • Maintain current certifications/trainings required by the position.
  • Oversee record-keeping including daily attendance, supply requests, paperwork, and other administrative duties as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Promote YMCA Child Care programs and other related programs.
  • Be and set the example of excellency to other staff, maintaining an attitude of professionalism and loyalty.
