About The Position

The YMCA of Three Rivers is a charitable organization serving Guelph-Wellington, Stratford-Perth, and Waterloo Region, aiming to build connected and resilient communities. As Canada’s largest not-for-profit child care provider, the YMCA offers quality care and education to young children. This role involves supporting the growth and development of children aged 0-12 by purchasing, preparing, and serving nutritional, well-balanced snacks and meals, ensuring compliance with public health regulations and YMCA best practices. The position requires attention to detail and time management skills in a fast-paced environment, catering to daily nutritional requirements including those with food allergies or intolerances. The role requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being part of a larger team.

Requirements

  • Minimal High School Diploma
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification prior to the first day of work
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Knowledge of Food Safety in the workplace
  • Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health
  • Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending and stooping; picking up a child
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age or older as per Ministry guidelines
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Completion of a current Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Completion of employment reference checks

Responsibilities

  • Purchasing, preparing and serving nutritional, well-balanced snacks and meals for children aged 0-12.
  • Ensuring fulfillment of the vision and commitment of licensed quality care locally and provincially.
  • Reinforcing Public Health regulations, the Child Care and Early Years Act, and YMCA Best Practices.
  • Meeting daily nutritional requirements for children, including those with food allergies or intolerances.
  • Maintaining attention to detail and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision as part of a larger team.
