About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook plans and prepares home-style, nutritious meals within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements. The position also includes distributing food to classrooms, maintaining food and supply inventory, ordering supplies when needed, and assisting in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.

• Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff and distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, incorporating USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
