About The Position

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is hiring a part-time Child Care Assistant for its School Age Programs, serving schools in Davidson County’s Dickerson Pike community, including Bellshire Elementary and Kipp Ewing Park Elementary. The role supports children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental development in a fun, safe, and engaging environment. This is an ongoing position during the 2026–2027 school year and is not temporary or summer-only. The pay range starts at $15 per hour, with a higher rate possible depending on childcare experience listed in the application or resume. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enthusiastic, organized, and team-oriented, with a passion for youth development.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills and the ability to multitask.
• Must be available Monday through Friday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Must commit to ongoing employment during the 2026–2027 school year.
• Before the first shift, complete orientation, DHS background check, fingerprinting, Abuse Registry Check, health forms, training sessions, and references.
• Obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification for infants and pediatrics within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to see and hear children clearly, move quickly to ensure their safety, lift up to 40 pounds, and spend time standing, bending, and outdoors in changing weather.

Responsibilities

• Lead and engage a group of 15–20 children in indoor and outdoor activities.
• Set up and transform program spaces into child-friendly environments and maintain cleanliness.
• Help implement a quality curriculum aligned with YMCA guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, school personnel, and families.
• Help ensure site licensing and quality standards are maintained.
