About The Position

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is seeking Part-time Before and After School Childcare Assistants for their School Age Programs. This role involves leading and engaging groups of children in activities, transforming program spaces, implementing curriculum, building relationships with staff, school personnel, and families, and ensuring site licensing and quality standards are maintained. The position is ideal for individuals passionate about youth development and making a difference in children's lives.

Requirements

• Minimum Age: 18
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enthusiastic, organized, and team-oriented individuals with a passion for youth development.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to multitask.
• Must be available Monday through Friday
• Must be able to commit to ongoing employment during the 2026–2027 school year
• Orientation, DHS Background Check, Fingerprinting, Abuse Registry Check, health forms, training sessions, and references (required before first shift).
• CPR/First Aid/AED (Infant/Pediatric) (required within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Actively lead and engage a group of 15–20 children in activities, inside and outside.
• Set up and transform program spaces into child-friendly environments and ensure cleanliness.
• Help implement a quality curriculum aligned with YMCA guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, school personnel, and families.
• Ensure site licensing and quality standards are maintained.

Benefits

• Pay Range starts at $15 per hour (or more depending on the childcare experience listed in the application or resume)
