About The Position

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is seeking passionate individuals to join their team as Part-time After School Childcare Assistants for their School Age Programs. This role involves making a difference in children's lives by helping them grow socially, physically, spiritually, and mentally in a fun, safe, and engaging environment. The position is not temporary or summer-only and requires availability Monday through Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Requirements

• Minimum Age: 18
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enthusiastic, organized, and team-oriented individuals with a passion for youth development.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to multitask.
• Ability to see and hear children clearly, move quickly to ensure their safety, lift up to 40 lbs, and comfortably spend time standing, bending, and being outdoors in changing weather.
• Must be available Monday through Friday
• Must be able to commit to ongoing employment during the 2026–2027 school year
• Orientation, DHS Background Check, Fingerprinting, Abuse Registry Check, health forms, training sessions, and references (before first shift).
• CPR/First Aid/AED (Infant/Pediatric) (within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Actively lead and engage a group of 15–20 children in activities, inside and outside.
• Set up and transform program spaces into child-friendly environments and ensure cleanliness.
• Help implement a quality curriculum aligned with YMCA guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, school personnel, and families.
• Ensure site licensing and quality standards are maintained.
