About The Position

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is seeking passionate and enthusiastic individuals to join their team as Part-time Before and After School Childcare Assistants for their School Age Programs. This role is ideal for those who love working with children and are dedicated to making a positive impact on their social, physical, spiritual, and mental development within a fun, safe, and engaging environment. The position is ongoing and not limited to summer employment.

Requirements

Minimum Age: 18
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Enthusiastic, organized, and team-oriented individuals with a passion for youth development.
Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to multitask.
Ability to stay active with kids.
Ability to see and hear children clearly.
Ability to move quickly to ensure their safety.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to comfortably spend time standing, bending, and being outdoors in changing weather.
Must be available Monday through Friday.
Must be able to commit to ongoing employment during the 2026–2027 school year.
Before your first shift: Orientation, DHS Background Check, Fingerprinting, Abuse Registry Check, health forms, training sessions, and references.
Within 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/AED (Infant/Pediatric).

Responsibilities

Actively lead and engage a group of 15–20 children in activities, inside and outside.
Set up and transform program spaces into child-friendly environments and ensure cleanliness.
Help implement a quality curriculum aligned with YMCA guidelines.
Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, school personnel, and families.
Ensure site licensing and quality standards are maintained.
