About The Position

360°kids is a community agency serving York Region, dedicated to improving the lives of unhoused and marginalized youth and families for over 35 years. The YOUTHrive program specifically supports youth in social housing communities across York Region by providing wraparound services. Youth Workers in this program offer mentorship through informal counseling, job search assistance, academic support (homework and post-secondary), and basic life skills training. The program aims to foster leadership, promote life skills, and mentor youth within the community through various activities such as workshops, relationship building, cooking classes, guest speakers, job support, community outreach, sports, homework help, and self-esteem building. This is a part-time contract position until December 2026. The working hours are Mondays-Fridays from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. During school PA days, winter break, March break, summer break, and from July to August 30, the program operates during the day for 7 hours with an additional hour for administrative work.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma in a child/youth-related field (e.g., Child and Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or students currently in their 3rd/4th year of Post-Secondary studies (College/University) or an equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with at-risk youth and/or street-involved individuals.
  • Advanced knowledge of issues related to street-involved individuals and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Strong personal ethics and integrity.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including influencing, consensus/team building, facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution, management, leadership, motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring, and empowerment.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving ability with a willingness to take responsibility for decisions and actions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, community agencies, and the public.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of staff, the public, and clients, while maintaining objectivity.
  • Case management skills, including record keeping, client service, and building capacity through a team approach.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Ability to organize time and workload effectively.
  • Experience with MS Office, with the ability to prepare and write reports.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • Current Broad Record Check (criminal background check).
  • Possession of a car and a valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and insurance liability coverage at $2,000,000.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day organization and operation at the assigned site, including on-site supervision of program staff, participants, and volunteers.
  • Coordinates, develops, and facilitates weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly life skills programming for youth.
  • Provides ongoing monitoring of all youth while on the premises in accordance with 360°kids policies and procedures.
  • Offers informal one-on-one counseling and serves as a positive role model for youth.
  • Advocates on behalf of clients for support, services, and benefits with internal and external resources, engaging in active problem-solving.
  • Supervises the setup and takedown of program materials and equipment, including storage, ensuring facilities are left clean and tidy.
  • Collaborates with the Program Administrator / Team Lead to create and implement approved strategies and plans to achieve program goals.
  • Resolves conflict situations, including client complaints and disputes, through listening, mediation, negotiation, and providing support and guidance.
  • Facilitates community collaboration with key partners and builds capacity for partnerships with diverse groups such as LGBTQIA2s+, mental health, addictions, diversity councils, faith-based assemblies, education bodies, justice panels, police, and community committees.
  • Connects with staff from other programs and community agencies (e.g., hospitals, social workers, doctors, courts, immigration, shelters, drop-ins, health clinics, legal programs) to share program information.
  • Reports regularly to the Team Lead on issues of need or concern, and immediately reports any crisis or critical incident.
  • Follows appropriate 360°kids policies and procedures, ensuring the program aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values, and that activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
  • Completes all mandatory recording and reporting, including daily documentation, statistical data collection, tracking numbers and outreach events, and completing registration forms.
  • Manages gift card expenditures according to 360°kids guidelines, including balancing, budgeting, and documenting daily operating costs.
  • Participates in regular supervision meetings and semi-annual performance appraisal meetings.
  • Attends training workshops and relevant conferences pertaining to the role.
  • Liaises with participants, parents, community partners, agencies, donors, coworkers, and volunteers, developing positive relationships with the communities served and the general public.
  • Performs other duties as required.
