About The Position

We are Entrust, and we are seeking a Child and Youth Disability Support Worker for a permanent full-time overnight shift in one of our 78 homes in Edmonton. Requirements

  • A related degree or training in disability services, sensory processing, and/or developmental assessments.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
  • Skilled in wheelchair support, paralysis care, G-tube feeding, and compassionate trauma-informed approaches that foster safety, trust, and independence.
  • At least 1-2 years of direct experience working with clients with complex developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, intellectual disabilities, behavioral challenges).
  • Proven ability to implement and adapt behavioral intervention plans (e.g., ABA, positive behavior support).
  • Skilled in de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviors.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to interact with complex needs clients using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC) is a strong asset.
  • Proof of legal eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (obtained within the last 3 months).
  • Child & Youth Intervention Record Check (obtained within the last 3 months).
  • Intermediate First Aid / CPR Level C Certification (obtained within the last 3 months).

Nice To Haves

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to interact with complex needs clients using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC) is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals by ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard, while promoting empowerment and respect for their choices.
  • Provide dignified personal care, including assistance with hygiene, dressing, mobility, and nighttime routines while managing medication and addressing health concerns.
  • Conduct 3 visual checks throughout the night to ensure individuals remain safe, healthy, and free from harm, while balancing these responsibilities with rest periods, when possible.
  • Assist in communicating their needs and administer First Aid as required to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Ensure the home is safe and secure. Assist with tasks like cleaning, laundry, decorating, encouraging individuals to participate to the best of their abilities and fostering a sense of independence and ownership in their living environment.
