About The Position

Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health supports individuals, families and communities as they work to strengthen their wellbeing and mental health. We have an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Child and Family Therapist for an 18-Month Contract to join our clinical team! In this role you’ll be responsible for supporting children, youth and their caregivers and families by delivering exceptional service to our clients regardless of their financial means. You will use your clinical training, professional development, and expertise to deliver valuable counselling/psychotherapeutic services to individuals, families, and groups. This role will primarily be working within the Cambridge region.

Requirements

  • Masters’ degree in a counselling related field or Master of Social Work degree with fully registered status with the applicable college.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires balancing multiple demands and priorities.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities to deal with emotionally charged situations on a frequent basis.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Police check is required.
  • Must be able to provide either proof of vaccination or documentation providing a satisfactory reason under the Ontario Human Rights Code for not being vaccinated.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a community setting.
  • Experience providing family counselling.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and trauma.
  • Training and/or certification in additional clinical modalities (eg CBT, EMDR, SFBT, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of attachment and trauma informed therapeutic interventions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working from an anti-oppressive practice approach.
  • 2 years’ relevant clinical experience (delivering counselling/psychotherapy, crisis work, family support), ideally with children youth and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical service to children, youth, parents, and families while ensuring all services are based on holistic practice and an integration of family focus, wellness, attachment theory, resilience building methods and trauma-informed principles.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to children and youth up to 18 years of age, and their caregivers.
  • Provide individual trauma-informed therapies and group treatment to children, youth, parents and their families to facilitate their healing and reduction of trauma-related symptoms.
  • Liaise with families, guardians and service providers to ensure optimum coordination of services and collaborative working relationships.
  • Provide immediate support to clients in crisis including risk mitigation, safety planning and connections to crisis services.
  • Offer a range of comprehensive assessments to understand the client’s needs; assesses other factors that may be impacting the client (e.g., environment, family situation, resettlement).
