About The Position

Blackbird Health is a clinician-founded, owned, and operated organization dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to children and adolescents. We offer virtual and in-person care across multiple states and are expanding. Our approach focuses on the whole child, addressing the interconnectedness of brain, body, and behavior. We are seeking dedicated clinicians to join our Sterling, VA team to provide hybrid services to children, adolescents, and young adults ages 2–26, and their caregivers. Multiple employment tracks are available, including 1099 Contractor, W2 Part-Time, and W2 Full-Time.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • PMHNP-BC certification.
  • At least one year of independent psychiatric experience working under licensure.
  • Active Virginia PMHNP / CRNP / APN license.
  • Active DEA license.
  • Virginia State Prescriptive Authority.
  • Ability to work a hybrid model with designated onsite clinical days at our Sterling, VA location, alongside virtual telehealth capability.
  • At least 1+ year of experience specializing in child and adolescent populations (ages 2–26).
  • Availability to cover peak clinical hours (after 4:00 PM ET weekdays and/or weekends).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses for children, adolescents, and young adults.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans and provide medication management that addresses the unique needs of each patient.
  • Build meaningful therapeutic relationships with patients and families, providing education and support to ensure engagement in care.
  • Monitor patient progress against care goals and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Ensure patient safety and intervene proactively when concerns arise.
  • Collaborate with therapists and other healthcare professionals to create integrated treatment plans.
  • Participate in regular team and supervisory clinical meetings.
  • Provide consultation and education to patients and families.
  • Oversee diagnostic testing including digital and lab results.
  • Maintain thorough, HIPAA-compliant records of patient meetings and progress.
