About The Position

East Daley Analytics is building the energy market intelligence platform for professionals who need to understand how North American oil, natural gas, NGLs, infrastructure, producers, and midstream companies connect. Our mission is to drive transparency in energy markets by combining proprietary data, asset-level models, expert research, and workflow-ready software. Our Energy Data Studio® platform helps customers forecast, compare, and analyze infrastructure and commodity performance across crude oil, natural gas, and NGL markets. The platform brings together operational and financial data, production forecasts, pipeline utilization, takeaway capacity, contract terms, counterparty risk, regulatory filings, dashboards, and exportable datasets. East Daley has described its broader mission as helping clients make informed, data-driven energy decisions in rapidly changing markets. We are now looking for a CTO to help scale East Daley from a high-value research and data business into a category-defining energy intelligence platform. This is a hands-on executive technology leadership role for someone who has built and scaled complex data, analytics, AI, and SaaS products — ideally in markets where domain expertise, data quality, and customer trust matter as much as software velocity. The right leader will inherit a strong foundation: differentiated market expertise, proprietary models, a growing Energy Data Studio platform, and a team with deep knowledge of energy fundamentals. Your mandate will be to transform that foundation into a scalable, modern, secure, and extensible technology platform that can support product-led growth, enterprise data delivery, AI-enabled workflows, and faster innovation across natural gas, crude, NGLs, and capital intelligence. This role is designed for a technology leader who wants to be close to the business, close to customers, and close to the product — not someone who wants to run a detached engineering organization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including senior engineering, VP Engineering, CTO, or equivalent roles.
  • Experience building and scaling data-intensive products, analytics platforms, workflow software, market intelligence platforms, or B2B SaaS products.
  • A track record of leading engineering teams through scale: architecture modernization, delivery discipline, technical debt reduction, platform reliability, and stronger product execution.
  • Strong fluency in data platforms, cloud architecture, APIs, analytics workflows, data pipelines, governance, and enterprise software delivery.
  • Experience partnering with product, research, commercial, and customer-facing teams to turn domain expertise into scalable product capabilities.
  • A pragmatic view of AI and automation, with the ability to identify real use cases that improve product experience, internal productivity, or data quality.
  • Credibility with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
  • A bias toward shipping, learning, and iterating — while respecting that East Daley’s brand depends on accuracy, transparency, and analytical trust.
  • Curiosity and respect for complex domain expertise are mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in energy, commodities, infrastructure, financial data, market intelligence, trading analytics, supply chain analytics, geospatial data, or regulatory data.
  • Experience building products that combine proprietary data, third-party data, forecasting models, visualization, and customer workflow tools.
  • Experience modernizing a founder-led or domain-expert-led technology organization without breaking what makes the company special.
  • Experience scaling distributed engineering teams and building strong engineering culture across geographies.
  • Experience with data acquisition, entity resolution, time-series data, model versioning, BI/visualization, APIs, and customer-facing data delivery.
  • Experience commercializing AI/ML capabilities inside a trusted B2B information product.

Responsibilities

  • Own East Daley’s technology strategy, architecture, engineering execution, data platform, software delivery, and technical talent strategy.
  • Partner directly with the CEO, product, research, data, commercial, and customer teams to define how East Daley’s proprietary intelligence becomes software, data products, APIs, analytics workflows, and scalable customer experiences.
  • Define the technical roadmap for Energy Data Studio and related data products.
  • Establish a modern architecture that supports dashboards, APIs, Excel/data exports, customer-specific workflows, internal modeling, and future AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Build scalable systems for ingesting, validating, transforming, versioning, and distributing high-value energy data.
  • Create a high-performance engineering operating model with clear roadmaps, delivery discipline, release management, observability, documentation, QA, and customer feedback loops.
  • Identify where AI, machine learning, and automation can improve data ingestion, anomaly detection, research workflows, forecasting support, customer interaction, search, summarization, and product experience.
  • Engage with strategic customers, prospects, and partners to understand workflow needs and translate them into product and platform priorities.
  • Help the commercial team sell East Daley’s technical credibility to sophisticated energy, finance, infrastructure, and trading customers.
  • Lead, coach, and scale the engineering, data engineering, platform, and technical product functions.
  • Recruit senior technical talent, raise engineering standards, and build a culture where domain experts and technologists collaborate deeply.
  • Ensure the platform meets the expectations of institutional customers, including data security, access control, uptime, permissioning, auditability, vendor management, and scalable customer delivery.
