About The Position

ProductPlan is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead engineering and AI innovation at a pivotal moment in our history. After more than a decade setting the standard for enterprise roadmapping, we acquired Winware.ai in 2026 and launched our Product Intelligence Platform, uniting AI-native customer and market intelligence with strategic roadmapping. This is a hands-on, outcomes-driven leadership role, perfect for a senior technical leader (Director or VP level) ready to step into a C-level position. You will shape the technology vision for a platform at the forefront of AI-powered product strategy, drive results, and inspire our team to perform at their best. We prefer candidates based in the New York/New Jersey area or Denver, Colorado, though this role is open to remote candidates across the United States.

Requirements

  • Senior technical leader experience, such as Director or VP of Engineering, with a track record of scaling teams, systems, or products.
  • Significant experience in an entrepreneurial environment such as startups, high-growth companies, or founder-led teams.
  • Ability to define and execute technology strategy that leverages AI and other tools to create business advantage; hands-on experience with AI/ML systems in production is a strong plus.
  • Creative problem-solver who uses technology to disrupt markets and tackle complex challenges.
  • Experience leading and inspiring small teams, fostering accountability, innovation, and high performance.
  • Strong communicator who can translate technical strategy into business impact for customers, the board, and a distributed team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technology vision and strategy, bringing concrete solutions and the urgency to execute on them.
  • Make sound architectural and product decisions that balance speed, scalability, and business impact.
  • Stay hands-on, diving into technical problems directly and keeping a close connection to the work the team is doing.
  • Lead and mentor a small, high-performing engineering team, building a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology creatively to disrupt the market and solve complex problems.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership to align technical initiatives with strategic business goals.
  • Hold a high bar for technical quality, problem-solving, and accountability across the team.
  • Work effectively across a globally distributed engineering team, maintaining alignment and momentum across time zones.
