About The Position

The Chief Structural Engineer provides expertise and support in a variety of areas including structural steel design, foundation design, concrete design, vibration analysis, and assists with sales and marketing, staff forecasting, preparation of proposals for design services, and project cost control. This role involves civil/structural conceptual, preliminary, and detail design, managing a staff of Structural Engineers and Designers, communicating directly with clients, and overseeing the quality control of structural work for the company.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Structural or other discipline such as Civil or Architectural)
10-20 years’ experience in Structural engineering (preferably related to construction or heavy industrial)
Licensed Professional Engineer required.

Responsibilities

Provide expertise and support in structural steel design, foundation design, concrete design, and vibration analysis.
Assist with sales and marketing efforts, including assisting with staff forecasting and preparation of proposals for design services.
Assist with project cost control.
Perform Civil/Structural Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detail Design.
Manage staff of Structural Engineers and Designers (currently 6).
Communicate directly to clients on projects.
Assist and direct preparation of proposals for new work.
Assist in development of Engineering cost estimates for construction.
Oversee all technical aspects of structural project work.
Provide technical guidance and oversight to designers and engineers.
Assist in project management of projects and manage some projects.
Responsible for discipline planning and coordination.
Perform quality control of structural work for the company.
Conduct structural staff performance reviews.
