About The Position

Cheshire Medical Center, a member of the Dartmouth Health system, is seeking a Chief of Pediatrics. This role reports to the Chair of Primary Care with a dotted line to the Chief Medical Officer. The Chief will oversee the clinical and administrative functions of the outpatient pediatric clinic and the Inpatient Newborn Nursery. This is a 0.9 FTE clinical and 0.1 FTE administrative role, managing a team of 8 providers (physicians and advanced practice providers). Responsibilities include 24/7 call coverage (1:6 average for deliveries and nursery, including neonatal resuscitations), given the center averages 400 deliveries annually and has a Level 1 Nursery with teleICN coverage. The position involves collaboration with Dartmouth Health Golisano Children’s Hospital for quality initiatives. The Chief will serve as a role model for expert, compassionate, and cost-effective care, fostering strong relationships within the organization. Success in this role requires strategic planning, goal setting, mentoring pediatric providers, managing personnel, and contributing to fiscal and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of practice in Pediatrics
  • Minimum of 2 years demonstrated leadership experience
  • Board Certification in Pediatrics
  • NRP Certification
  • Ability to maintain medical licensure in the state of New Hampshire

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the clinical and administrative functions of the outpatient pediatric clinic.
  • Provide oversight for the Inpatient Newborn Nursery.
  • Manage a provider staff of 8, including physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Participate in 24/7 call responsibilities (1:6 on average for deliveries and nursery, including neonatal resuscitations).
  • Collaborate with Dartmouth Health Golisano Children’s Hospital on outpatient and nursery quality initiatives.
  • Serve as a role model of expert, compassionate, and cost-effective clinical care.
  • Maintain exemplary relationships with colleagues in the Section and throughout the organization.
  • Strategize and set goals for the Section of Pediatrics.
  • Mentor Pediatric providers.
  • Handle personnel matters.
  • Assume shared responsibility for fiscal and operational performance.
