About The Position

Responsible for technical flight operations, regulatory compliance, and the leadership of flight crews. Oversees aircraft SOPs, crew scheduling and records, training coordination, and safety management under Transport Canada CARs 604. Provides ongoing flying duties on the E550/545 and or the phenom 300e while supervising and mentoring crew. Located in Campbell River, BC, on Vancouver Island’s spectacular coast, Regional Aviation is a private corporate flight department operating under CARs 604. Our mixed fleet includes the Legacy 500, Praetor 500, Phenom 300E, and ASTAR 350B. This senior leadership role serves as the designated Chief Pilot, accountable for SOPs, crew oversight, regulatory compliance, and safety programs, while maintaining active flying duties on the E550/545 and or the Phenom 300E.

Requirements

  • Extensive operational flight experience meeting Transport Canada PIC requirements for the E550/545 and or Phenom 300E.
  • Experience in leadership, crew supervision, and mentoring of pilots.
  • Experience in SOP development, compliance auditing, and training program coordination.
  • Regulatory knowledge of CARs 604 operations.
  • Current Transport Canada licences, ratings, and medical certification meeting Chief Pilot PIC requirements.
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s licence and Canadian passport.
  • Ability to pass background, security, and criminal record checks.
  • Functional ability to push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead and develop flight crews.
  • Robust understanding of regulatory standards, operational requirements, and safety systems.
  • Proficiency in flight planning, customs procedures, and pilot self-dispatch operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with professionalism when interacting with stakeholders and high-net-worth clients.
  • Proficiency in technical services and EFB-based tools (Foreflight, scheduling systems, etc.).
  • Ability to balance flying duties with leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Chief Pilot under CARs 604, accountable for developing, maintaining, and updating aircraft standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Verify aerodromes and routes to ensure suitability for aircraft use and ensure operational requirements are met.
  • Process flight crew reports and ensure corrective actions.
  • Report and action safety/compliance information through SMS.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide operational support to flight crews, escalating concerns to FDM where necessary.
  • Monitor and remain current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and global operational standards.
  • Review, approve, and control direct report spending within company limits.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and audit crew technical training requirements.
  • Ensure regulatory and company procedure compliance through spot checks and annual audits.
  • Conduct and coordinate line indoctrinations for crew.
  • Monitor and support pilot records in coordination with Supervisor, Operational Support.
  • Fulfill Responsible Individual role in the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Provide operational support for escalated/irregular events such as diversions or maintenance issues.
  • Attend and actively participate in all safety events, assigned meetings, and training.
  • Manage flight crew schedules in compliance with policy and regulatory duty limits.
  • Actively participate in SMS, promoting flight safety and effective CRM across crew and staff.
  • Maintain flight qualifications on the E550/545 and or the Phenom 300E.
  • Consult with the FDM on technical flight matters, safety investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor pilot performance, flight time/duty records, and escalate concerns to the FDM.
  • Manage flight operations technical services and subscriptions (e.g., Foreflight, Sirius weather).
  • Provide secondary support as required, including occasional flight tracking, helicopter ground support, or other operational assistance.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports, including safety hazards/incidents via SMS, weekly status reports to FDM, monthly per-diem reports, required government reports, Praetor business use reports, expense reporting and approvals, and trip after action reports.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the FDM.
