About The Position

Leads and oversees all pilot operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and cross department coordination to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable aviation services. Directs and oversees flight operations, pilot activities, and aviation programs to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant aviation services. Develops and enforces aviation policies, procedures, and safety standards to mitigate risk and support safe flight operations. Leads, evaluates, maintains and reviews pilot qualifications, performance, training, certification and flight records to maintain operational or audit readiness and regulatory compliance. Represents the company during FAA audits and regulatory reviews, while serving as key liaison with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable aviation standards, maintain effective operational coordination and minimize disruptions. Manages operational documentation and coordinates with Maintenance, Safety, Dispatch, and leadership to ensure aircraft availability and support reliable, efficient operations. Monitors and analyzes key operational metrics, flights activities and performance indicators to identify trends and support continuous improvement. Promotes and upholds a strong safety culture by enforcing FAA regulations, investigating safety incidents, operational concerns, and compliance issues to ensure safe and compliant flight, implement corrective actions and reduce future risk. Demonstrates, guides, and reinforces adherence to company policies and procedures while monitoring team compliance with organizational standards and legal requirements to foster a culture of accountability, minimize risk, and ensure operational integrity. Participates and leads pilot teams during storm restoration tasks and emergency response efforts by coordinating tasks and ensuring effective collaboration with other operational areas to deliver safe, reliable and efficient power restoration. Takes initiative to perform supplementary responsibilities within their expertise — including operating the aircraft in accordance with all applicable regulations and company procedures when required — and delegates tasks based on team and operational needs to maintain continuity and adaptability. This position is classified as a safety-sensitive aviation role due to its involvement in aircraft operations. The candidate and/or incumbent must maintain compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, medical certification requirements, and company-established safety and fitness-for-duty policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • 5 years' progressive experience in aviation, helicopter flight operations with at least 3 years in a senior, captain or lead pilot role and Part 133, overseeing employees directly or indirectly.
  • Extensive flight experience serving as a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time in the relevant aircraft type.
  • 2,000 flight hours (helicopter)
  • 1,000hrs Pilot in Command (PIC)(helicopter)
  • 300hrs Turbine(general)
  • Experience coordinating flights operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting aviation safety programs.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Commercial Pilot Helicopter Certificate
  • Instrument Rating Helicopter Certificate
  • Valid Medical FAA Certificate (Minimum Second Class)
  • Super Puma FAA Type S330 Certification (12,500 pounds) or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating in utility, emergency response, commercial or specialized helicopter operations is preferred.
  • FAA Check Airman or Instructor experience is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in aviation, aeronautical science, aviation management business administration or relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in aviation, helicopter flight operations with at least 1 years in a senior, captain or lead pilot role and Part 133, overseeing employees directly or indirectly.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate preferred not required
  • Additional aircraft type rating, flight instructor certifications or aviation safety certifications
