About The Position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will lead the day-to-day operational functions of the organization, ensuring seamless, efficient, and compliant service delivery across all aspects of the Pharmacy Benefit Administration (PBA) business. This executive position will drive operational excellence that will drive the ability to scale operations optimize workflows and support growth and innovation. The COO will play a critical leadership role, aligning operations with SS&C Health’s strategy and ensuring outstanding performance for clients, members, and stakeholders. This role will report into SS&C Health’s General Manager and will be a key contributor to the leadership team. The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for providing leadership over the PBA operations including claims adjudication, call centers, mail/specialty pharmacy services, benefit design implementation, eligibility enrollment and formulary operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, pharmacy, preferred.
  • 15+ years of senior leadership experience in PBM, managed care, healthcare payer, or related healthcare operations.
  • Deep understanding of PBA services including formulary management, rebate contracting, specialty pharmacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Track record of fostering operational excellence and innovation.
  • Results oriented and team-player with a demonstrated track record of making meaningful impact across functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Translate SS&C Health’s strategic vision into operational plans, ensuring alignment between business goals and service delivery.
  • Implement scalable and efficient business processes, leveraging automation and data-driven insights to improve performance and quality.
  • Ensure all operations meet federal, state, and industry-specific regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, HIPAA, URAC, NCQA). Oversee the creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and audit readiness programs.
  • Maintain high service levels, resolve escalated client issues, and ensure a consistent and positive experience for clients and their members.
  • Partner with the Technology Leader to ensure robust, secure, and scalable technology platforms support operations and enhance competitiveness.
  • Build and manage high-performing teams, promote a culture of operational performance and quality.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to manage operational budgets, analyze cost drivers, and meet margin and efficiency targets.
