Chief Operating Officer - AI Native Operations
About The Position
Max Roofing, a growing company in the Phoenix metro area specializing in custom homes, repairs, and full replacements, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO). The company differentiates itself with a proprietary AI agent platform that automates lead intake, customer experience, project coordination, and accounting, while the human team oversees the machine. The COO will be responsible for running this operational machine, allowing the founder to focus on growth. The role involves overseeing AI agent operations, sales operations, production and fulfillment, financial performance, marketing and lead flow, and people management. The COO will report directly to the owner and will have significant decision-making authority. Key objectives include sustaining and growing the current run rate, protecting profit margins, and building out the retail sales process. The first 90 days will focus on learning the pipeline, auditing AI agents, developing a priority plan, addressing infrastructure items, establishing funnel reporting, and taking ownership of ad performance.
Requirements
- Experience running operations in a lean business (not a department in a big company)
- Experience managing a team and making performance-related decisions
- Experience owning or rebuilding a sales process
- Ability to read a P&L and protect margins without being the bookkeeper
- Comfortable with technology and thinking in systems
- Ability to work with a fast-moving, direct founder
- Bring decisions, not menus
- Escalate sparingly
- Figure things out before asking
- Must live in the Phoenix Valley
- Available in person for job sites and to meet with the team
