Chief of Staff

CKCODECONNECT•,

About The Position

We're looking for a Chief of Staff who can turn the organization's mission into an operating rhythm. This person will be the connective tissue between leadership and the team, someone who builds the systems, culture, and communication standards that let people do their best work. The core purpose of this role is to increase employee performance and retention by building a professional, healthy, and effective work culture rooted in the organization's values. This is not a role for someone who waits to be told what to do. The right person notices where the organization is bottlenecked, proposes a solution, and builds it.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English is a must
  • Deeply empathetic, with a genuine read on how people are doing and what they need.
  • Meticulous with details; things don't slip through the cracks on your watch.
  • A systems thinker who builds structure where there is none, and a backup plan for that structure.
  • Culturally and socially aware, with strong instincts for optics and how actions and words land.
  • An excellent communicator, written and verbal, across different audiences and situations.
  • Self-directed: you spot the problem, propose the fix, and execute.
  • Comfortable holding ownership over ambiguous, cross-functional work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
  • Background in HR, operations, or organizational development.
  • Experience designing training programs or onboarding systems from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the organization's values into concrete team norms, communication standards, and ways of working, backed by real systems and documented trainings rather than tribal knowledge.
  • Serve as a steward of workplace optics, making sure how the team operates internally and presents itself externally reflects the organization's mission and professionalism.
  • Build a healthy, sustainable work culture that people want to stay in.
  • Own onboarding and offboarding end to end, so every new hire ramps quickly and every departure is handled with care and professionalism.
  • Design and maintain performance tracking systems across teams, and use that data to spot where people or processes are struggling.
  • Identify skill or knowledge gaps causing bottlenecks, then design and deliver the trainings that close them.
  • Build systems, and fallback systems, so that no single point of failure can stall the organization.
  • Anticipate where processes are fragile and put redundancy in place before it becomes a crisis.
  • Act as a clear, empathetic communicator across every level of the organization, from leadership to new hires.
  • Read the room and the moment: know when a message needs warmth, when it needs directness, and when it needs to wait.
  • Keep leadership informed on team health, risks, and opportunities without being asked.
  • Proactively identify projects that will move the organization forward and bring them to leadership with a plan, not just a problem.
  • Execute on approved initiatives independently, following up until they're actually done.
  • Keep the leadership team focused on the organization's highest priorities and track progress on major goals.
  • Protect the executive's schedule so they only spend time on what only they can do.
  • Design, run, and follow up on leadership meetings, town halls, and board presentations to make sure they're productive.
  • Act as a bridge between the executive and the rest of the organization, ensuring clear communication and managing internal operations.
  • Take ownership of urgent, cross-functional projects that don't naturally fall into another department's bucket.
