Chief of Staff

Bisnow•New York City, NY
•$110,000 - $150,000•Onsite

About The Position

Bisnow is seeking a Chief of Staff to directly support and report to the CEO, playing a crucial role in scaling a media, events, and data business across 47 markets and five countries. This is an execution-focused role, responsible for translating the CEO's priorities into actionable decisions and initiatives across various departments including sales, editorial, events, marketing, hiring, and finance. The Chief of Staff will manage the operational rhythm of the business, ensure alignment across teams, and take ownership of cross-functional projects that lack a clear owner, such as new market launches, product rollouts, or organizational redesigns. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to gain trust and drive results in an organization without inherent authority, focusing on shipping tangible outcomes rather than just coordinating efforts.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in a fast-moving operating role (chief of staff, corporate strategy, business operations, consulting, or founder-adjacent) with clear progression in scope and ownership.
  • Direct experience working alongside executives.
  • Proven ability to build and ship projects, demonstrating personal contribution to successful launches, market entries, or process improvements.
  • Experience earning respect and driving results in an organization without automatic authority.
  • Cross-functional fluency with genuine curiosity about sales, editorial, events, finance, and product.
  • Ability to understand the economics of various revenue lines within 60 days.
  • Exceptional written communication skills: concise, structured, jargon-free, and suitable for a CEO, board, or external partner.
  • Financial literacy, including understanding P&Ls, pressure-testing models, and identifying flawed assumptions.
  • Innately curious about technology/AI and its application in the workplace.
  • Based in New York and willing to be in the office alongside the CEO.
  • High agency, low ego, and a commitment to Bisnow for multiple years.
  • Ability to form a view and bring a recommendation rather than waiting for assignments.
  • Comfortable challenging existing plans when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to media, events, or a multi-revenue-line business.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the CEO's execution arm across the business, assisting in setting direction and driving cross-functional execution in sales, content, events, marketing, finance, and more.
  • Secure buy-in, resolve tradeoffs, and drive initiatives to completion, ensuring vision is translated into reality efficiently.
  • Operationalize leadership's company management processes, structuring annual, quarterly, and monthly rhythms to drive outcomes, including planning and performance reviews across markets and revenue lines.
  • Create decision-driving agendas, pre-work for effective meetings, and clarify next steps to move the business forward.
  • Lead cross-functional projects end-to-end, including future planning, new market/event launches, product rollouts, organizational design, and new hire integration.
  • Take ownership of project components that lack a clear owner, ensuring execution is completed rather than handed off.
  • Stand in for the CEO in meetings and discussions to maintain momentum, representing the CEO's office with the authority to move decisions forward.
  • Develop a point of view on meeting outcomes and recommend next steps.
  • Diagnose and address business inefficiencies, such as manual processes or decision-making bottlenecks, and build sustainable processes, cadences, or tooling to implement fixes.
  • Handle confidential people, transition, and transaction work with utmost discretion.
  • Manage confidential information effectively in a fast-paced environment.
