The Chief of Staff role is a force-multiplier position focused on internal strategy and operational execution alongside founders and the leadership team. This role will own the systems, cadences, and metrics necessary for a fast-scaling company to operate efficiently. Key areas of ownership include setting strategy, implementing performance management, establishing departmental KPIs, and integrating AI into operations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience at scale, a sense of urgency, and a strong focus on company success. They should be comfortable with ambiguity and adept at transforming it into clarity for the organization.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of experience in high-performing environments such as top-tier startup operations, Chief of Staff/BizOps/Strategy & Ops roles, management consulting (MBB or similar), or investment banking with a proven track record of building and running systems within a fast-scaling company.
  • Experience deploying AI in real operational settings with a strong understanding of its leverage points.
  • Proven experience in rolling out performance management systems, including review cycles, goal frameworks, and KPI systems, and driving adoption.
  • Demonstrated grit, bias toward action, comfort with making decisions with incomplete information, and a singular focus on winning.
  • Experience creating processes and systems from scratch.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from data and translate them into decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a high-growth startup through a key scaling phase (Series A → D).
  • Exposure across multiple operational functions (finance, people, legal, sales ops).
  • Hands-on experience building AI-driven internal tooling or workflows.
  • Experience supporting fundraising or board-level reporting.
  • Familiarity with the modern startup stack (Ramp, Carta, HubSpot, and modern AI tooling).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO on company-wide strategy, translating vision into quarterly priorities, operating plans, and key decisions.
  • Manage the strategic planning cadence (annual, quarterly, weekly) to ensure leadership team alignment and accountability.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive performance management framework, including goal-setting, review cycles, calibration, and career frameworks.
  • Establish key metrics for each function, develop dashboards and reporting, and create a data-driven operating rhythm to identify issues proactively.
  • Lead the internal adoption and integration of AI, identifying leverage points, deploying tools and workflows, and embedding AI into the company's operational fabric.
  • Drive strategic initiatives that lack a clear owner, influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority to ensure execution.
  • Support the CEO by reducing the scope of their direct involvement in day-to-day operational execution.
  • Collaborate with finance on modeling, metrics, and board-level reporting, and assist in preparation for future fundraising activities.
