About The Position

Kent Place School seeks a highly organized and strategic Chief of Staff to serve as a vital and confidential partner to the Head of School and a primary liaison to the Board of Trustees. This high-impact role is designed for a professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and excels at integrating institutional strategy with seamless operational execution. This position is a primary connector across all school constituencies and will ensure the effectiveness of the Head's Office and the integrity of the Board's governance processes, while serving as the lead project manager on high-priority institutional initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years of experience supporting at the C-suite or Board level.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, and ensure the Head is well-prepared for meetings and public engagements.
  • Facilitate follow-through on key initiatives by tracking progress, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with school goals.
  • Serve as the primary administrative liaison to the Board of Trustees, ensuring strong communication and effective coordination.
  • Manage all aspects of Board and meetings, including scheduling, materials preparation, and minutes.
  • Maintain official Board records, including bylaws, disclosures, and historical documentation.
  • Support trustee onboarding, orientation, and ongoing engagement.
  • Coordinate Trustee Visiting Days, retreats, and special initiatives.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Head's Office, ensuring efficiency, responsiveness, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Manage the Head's calendar with a strategic lens, prioritizing time in alignment with institutional goals.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, travel, and retreats.
  • Manage budgets for the Head's Office and Board of Trustees.
  • Manage the Head of School residence.
  • Develop and refine high-level executive communications and briefings.
  • Serve as a professional bridge across all school constituencies to ensure clear and consistent information flow.
  • Handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Lead or support initiatives that enhance engagement, recognition, and shared experiences across the school.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate morale, celebrate milestones, and reinforce institutional values.
  • Participate actively in the life of the school, serving as an accessible and trusted presence.
  • Manage special projects on behalf of the Head of School, often requiring cross-departmental coordination.
  • Prepare presentations and briefing materials for internal and external audiences.
