This position is open to current full-time, annually paid Parks employees. Specifically, it is open to 1) current permanent Parks employees serving in the Administrative Community Relations Specialist civil service title or on leave from that title, 2) permanent Parks employees in or on leave from a comparable title (e.g., Administrative Staff Analyst or Administrative Manager), or 3) Parks employees who are reachable on the Administrative Community Relations Specialist or a comparable civil service list. The role involves performing responsible work on behalf of the borough administration under the direction of the Borough Commissioner, with significant latitude for independent initiative and judgment. The Chief of Staff will represent the Commissioner at various meetings, plan and oversee special events, supervise administrative staff, coordinate daily office operations, and manage the borough's capital projects. This includes liaising with relevant divisions, conducting needs assessments, organizing community input meetings, and communicating with stakeholders. The position also assists in private fundraising and grant coordination, serves as a liaison to various agencies and divisions, and collaborates with elected officials and community groups. Additionally, the role involves developing and enhancing 'friends of' groups, overseeing permits and public art installations, managing correspondence, responding to constituent inquiries, overseeing complex projects, and preparing briefings and reports.
