Chief of Staff to CEO

The Hire StandardLos Angeles, CA
Onsite

About The Position

We're partnering confidentially with a founder-led organization seeking an exceptional Chief of Staff to serve as the CEO's closest strategic and operational partner. This is a rare opportunity to operate at the center of a growing business, working directly with a visionary Founder while helping transform ideas into execution. You'll manage priorities, drive strategic initiatives, oversee executive operations, and ensure the CEO remains focused on the highest-impact opportunities across the organization. This is not an administrative support role. It's a high-trust leadership position for someone who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity, creating structure in fast-moving environments, and serving as both a strategic thought partner and an operational force multiplier. You'll work closely with executive leadership, investors, advisors, and external partners while helping build the operating systems that enable the organization to scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of experience as a Chief of Staff, Founder Office professional, Executive Business Partner, Strategic Operations, Business Operations, or similar role OR 2–4+ years in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or family office environments followed by operating experience
  • Experience supporting a Founder, CEO, entrepreneur, investor, or senior executive in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written communication skills with experience preparing executive summaries, strategic briefs, and decision materials
  • Strong executive operations experience, including complex calendars, communications, travel, and stakeholder management
  • Proven project management experience leading initiatives from concept through execution
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Asana, or similar productivity platforms
  • Daily working knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, or similar technologies
  • Exceptional judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential matters
  • Must reside in the Los Angeles area or be willing to relocate before employment
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus
  • Previous Chief of Staff experience supporting a Founder, entrepreneur, investor, or family office principal
  • Background at a top-tier management consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG) — helpful, though not required; candidates with strong operating experience outside of MBB are equally welcome
  • Background in beauty, wellness, or another consumer-facing industry — or exposure to those sectors through prior consulting, banking, or investing work
  • Ties to the UK — a nice-to-have, not a requirement
  • Experience supporting highly driven founders requiring strong executive support and operational structure
  • Background in founder-led, venture-backed, private equity-backed, or other high-growth organizations
  • Experience coordinating board meetings, investor relations, executive communications, or strategic planning
  • Experience traveling with executives during conferences, investor meetings, media engagements, or other high-profile events
  • A highly adaptable communication style, with the ability to read a room and tailor your approach to different working styles and personalities

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Founder Office while serving as an extension of the CEO across executive support, communications, contact management, and strategy and operations.
  • Own executive priorities from planning through execution, ensuring important decisions become measurable outcomes while maintaining alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted sounding board — someone who can pause, ask the right questions, and pressure-test a decision from a business, financial, and marketing perspective before it's finalized, not just execute it.
  • Manage the CEO's highly complex calendar, priorities, and strategic time allocation.
  • Coordinate high-priority meetings and ensure accountability on follow-up actions.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics for select business travel and company events; accompany the CEO on select trips and strategic engagements.
  • Anticipate challenges before they arise and proactively remove obstacles to execution.
  • Maintain absolute discretion while handling highly confidential information.
  • Oversee executive communications, inbox management, and stakeholder follow-up.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, briefing materials, executive summaries, and decision memos.
  • Synthesize complex information into clear, concise materials for executive decision-making.
  • Own relationship and contact management on the CEO's behalf — proactively tracking, following up on, and nurturing key relationships with retailers, media, partners, and event contacts so no opportunity is missed.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the CEO and executives, investors, advisors, partners, physicians, and other external stakeholders.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives and ensure execution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Build and prepare strategic decks, analyses, and research to support key business decisions.
  • Build scalable operating systems, workflows, and organizational processes.
  • Act as a business and financial thought partner — helping evaluate opportunities and pump the brakes when needed before the CEO commits.
