About The Position

Mercor is seeking a Chief of Staff to the Head of Product to serve as the operational backbone for the product organization. This role will support the team responsible for transforming human expertise into better AI models for leading AI labs and enterprises. The Chief of Staff will work directly with the Head of Product and leadership across various product areas, including Marketplace, Studio (annotation), RL Environments, and the Eval Platform. The goal is to create a coherent and predictable machine from a fast-moving, multi-team organization, balancing long-term operating strategy with rapid execution. This role will also own cross-cutting initiatives, improve the product organization's performance, and shape Mercor's customer-facing product narrative to foster deeper relationships within the AI ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a chief-of-staff, product-ops, strategy & ops, or PM role.
  • Exposure to fast-scaling teams preferred.
  • Strong instinct for what a good product looks like and what's worth building.
  • Ability to pressure-test decisions on their merits rather than procedurally.
  • High ownership and accountability for outcomes, not just outputs.
  • Ability to build lightweight processes that create clarity without adding bureaucracy.
  • Excellent written communication skills, capable of producing crisp, exec-ready documents.
  • Ability to turn ambiguity into a clear plan for others to execute.
  • Skill in influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority, earning trust from both individual contributors and leadership.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information and competing priorities.
  • Ability to balance running the numbers with framing the strategic narrative.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and drive planning and review cadences across the product organization.
  • Prepare leadership meetings end-to-end, including agendas, pre-reads, framing data, and follow-through on decisions.
  • Maintain a consistent format and quality bar across all product-area roadmaps for leadership comparison, sequencing, and resource allocation.
  • Own the monthly product-offering update to customers, coordinating inputs, editing for a unified voice, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Establish and coordinate interfaces between Product and adjacent functions like product marketing and developer relations for seamless launches and roadmap integration.
  • Support product recruiting, own PM onboarding, and coordinate the performance-review process, ensuring consistent timelines, calibration, and quality.
  • Take on and manage high-leverage cross-cutting initiatives that lack a natural owner.
