The Chief of Staff-Athletics reports directly to the Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics and is responsible for the direct oversight and administration of the Department of Athletics’ strategic planning process, special projects and initiatives as designated by the Director of Athletics. The Chief of Staff-Athletics will also be responsible for the creation and execution of staff development opportunities and the scheduling, planning and follow-up for the Director’s Cabinet, Senior Staff, Head Coach and Department Meetings. This position will manage and provide leadership to the students in the One Razorback Pathway Graduate Assistant Program and supervise the Graduate Assistants assigned to the Administration unit. Additionally, this position is a member of the Director of Athletics’ Executive Cabinet and will serve as the Sport Administrator for a sport. Regular, dependable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible administrative experience in intercollegiate athletics
  • Experience working with NCAA and/or conference governance structures, legislation, and compliance processes
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning process leading or managing strategic planning initiatives
  • At least three years of supervisory experience with either full-time, part time, and/or graduate assistants
  • Knowledge of NCAA and SEC governance structures, legislative processes, and sport-specific regulatory issues across multiple sports
  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • Timely action and management of tasks and projects skills
  • Advanced communication skills, with both internal and external constituents
  • Ability to be flexibility, creativity, adaptable to change
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced office environment
  • Ability to positively interact with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to uphold professionalism in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and/or professional degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Experience in Special Event Management
  • Experience in presenting to different audiences verbally and in writing, with experience in public speaking and engaging stakeholders
  • Experience managing sport programs as a designated sport administrator, with a record of fostering student-athlete success
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, cross-functional teams, and/or administrative units
