About The Position

The Chief of Educational Services provides executive level leadership and strategic direction for all educational programming at Bethany Children's Health Center. This role holds accountability for the full continuum of education services delivered within the hospital and community settings, including special education classrooms and programs, Healthy Schools initiatives, and Safe Kids Oklahoma programming. The Chief of Educational Services champions the belief that every child, regardless of medical complexity, disability, or circumstance deserves access to high quality, individualized education. This leader serves as the primary advocate for educational equity within the healthcare environment, ensuring that programs are not only clinically integrated but also developmentally appropriate, legally compliant, and aligned with the evolving needs of the children and families served. This role will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief of Educational Services translates organizational mission and strategic priorities into actionable educational programs, measurable outcomes, and sustainable community partnerships that extend the hospital's impact beyond its walls.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a related field required
  • 5 years of leadership experience is required.
  • Current Oklahoma teaching or administrative licensure, or eligibility to obtain.

  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Experience in education, school administration, or pediatric/healthcare settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a multi-year strategic plan for Education Services that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Identify emerging trends in pediatric education, special education law, and community health to proactively position the organization for growth and innovation.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all education programs, reporting outcomes regularly to executive leadership and the board.
  • Develop, mentor, and retain a high performing team of rehabilitation leaders, clinicians, and support staff, building a workforce capable of delivering exceptional care today and into the future.
  • Champion employee engagement, well-being, and retention through visible, accessible leadership and proactive investment in staff development, recognition, and growth opportunities.
  • Provide executive oversight for special education classrooms and programs operating within the Hospital, ensuring services meet the individual needs of students with disabilities in medically complex or rehabilitation settings.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and quality review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring interdisciplinary collaboration between education staff, clinical teams, therapists, and families.
  • Ensure timely and accurate provision of special education evaluations, eligibility determinations, and services in accordance with federal and state timelines.
  • Serve as the organization's primary point of accountability for education related regulatory readiness.
  • Proactively monitor changes in accreditation standards and applicable law, communicate updates to relevant staff and leadership, and implement policy or procedural changes as needed to maintain continuous compliance. Including CARF, ACHC, CMS, and federal, state, and local educational requirements.
  • Support individualized educational planning and coordination with school districts and community agencies.
  • Executive oversight and strategic leadership for both the Healthy Schools Oklahoma and Safe Kids Oklahoma programs, ensuring each initiative is operationally sound, mission-aligned, and positioned for sustainable growth and statewide impact.
  • Ensure program teams have the administrative, financial, and operational support needed to effectively plan, develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based programming.
  • Provide support and strategic direction in grant writing functions for Healthy Schools Oklahoma and Safe Kids Oklahoma teams.
  • Oversee grant management across programs, ensuring awarded funds are administered in compliance with funder guidelines, organizational policy, and applicable.
