The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will set the vision for nursing practice in the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to ensure all residents’ needs are met and to resolve customer complaints. The CNO will direct, supervise, and evaluate the work activities of all nursing personnel, providing clinical leadership and strategic long-term goals for the nursing staff. This position requires anticipating and managing changes in census and acuity, allocating nursing resources based on patient needs, and serving as a role model for customer service and patient safety. The CNO is responsible for determining and assessing performance objectives for the nursing department, organizing and reviewing policies and procedures to meet regulatory and quality standards, and overseeing the operational and financial efficiency of the nursing department. Additionally, the CNO will lead and develop the nursing staff, set and execute departmental policies and goals, evaluate the quality of care and operational efficiency, develop and oversee the departmental budget, and manage staff through hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication.
