The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a member of the senior management team at Mille Lacs Health System (MLHS), responsible for developing policies and providing direction for the organization. This role involves coordinating with the Administrator/CEO on clinical and administrative matters, assisting with licensure and accreditation compliance, and serving as a liaison between the administration and medical staff. The CMO also supports medical staff development, communicates health system issues to the medical staff, and coordinates new provider orientation and recruitment. They actively engage in hiring, evaluating, and supervising employed providers. The position requires regular attendance at senior management and professional meetings related to medical staff affairs, participation in peer review, and conducting medical staff investigations and disciplinary actions as needed. The CMO may also develop agendas for medical staff committees and serve on other appointed committees or as a medical director. If designated as Medical Director for Quality, they would be a voting member of the medical executive committee, connecting to all areas of MLHS involving the medical staff.
