About The Position

Heritage Health is seeking a seasoned, mission-driven Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to serve as the organization’s senior clinical executive and principal physician leader. The CMO provides enterprise-wide leadership for clinical strategy, quality, patient safety, and care delivery across all service lines while advancing Heritage Health’s mission to improve access and outcomes for the communities we serve. This is a high-impact executive leadership role for a physician leader with a demonstrated ability to lead at the system level—balancing clinical excellence, regulatory accountability, operational performance, and physician engagement. The CMO plays a central role in shaping the organization’s clinical model, strengthening governance and quality infrastructure, and ensuring care delivery aligns with value-based care principles, compliance requirements, and long-term organizational sustainability. The CMO serves as the organization’s senior clinical authority and operates in a true dyad partnership with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to co-lead service line performance, organizational culture, and the patient experience. Through direct oversight and mentorship of Clinical Directors across service lines, the CMO establishes clinical standards, drives accountability, and ensures consistency in quality, safety, and patient-centered care delivery throughout the system. As a trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Board, the CMO brings a physician voice to strategic decision-making while building strong, aligned clinical leadership structures that support provider engagement, professional practice excellence, and sustainable growth. The CMO fosters a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement—supporting both clinical teams and operational partners in achieving shared goals. In addition to internal leadership responsibilities, the CMO serves as a visible external clinical leader, representing Heritage Health with community partners, health systems, payers, and key stakeholders. In this capacity, the CMO strengthens strategic partnerships, supports growth initiatives, and advances collaborative efforts to improve community health outcomes. This role is primarily focused on executive leadership and administrative responsibilities, with up to 20% clinical practice based on mutual agreement and organizational needs.
