About The Position

This is Supervisory work in a first line, technical capacity directing the activities of skilled personnel engaged in the daily maintenance of a Public Drinking Water Supply. Incumbent is responsible for the oversight of teams engaged in the mechanical and electrical activities associated with the construction, upgrade, and maintenance of treatment process or conveyance system equipment and infrastructure. Works closely with the Chief Operator continuously improve process efficiency. Systems include but are not limited to: pumps, chemical feed systems, treatment basins, pump stations, electrical switch-gear, motor controls, wells, and water transport systems. Works with minimal direction, utilizing independent judgment in a team environment. Work is subject to review by the divisional Manager.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus five years' experience in the technical and administrative aspects of Water Treatment Systems maintenance.
Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License or attain within 60 days of hire.
Must possess either DEP Drinking Water Certification and 3 years maintenance experience or a Water Distribution Certification and 6 years of maintenance experience
Working knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, and maintenance of water treatment systems.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including process equipment and controls.
Understanding of basic electrical theory, motor controls, and related equipment.
Ability to lead and motivate employees in a team-oriented environment using effective team-building techniques.
Ability to develop and implement employee training, coaching, performance reinforcement, and process improvement initiatives.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
Proficiency in operating office computers and commercial software applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information to employees and supervisors.
Knowledge of standard safety practices and occupational hazards associated with industrial and water treatment environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, report preparation, and project tracking.

Responsibilities

Organize, schedule, and monitor maintenance activities.
Plan and implement proactive preventive maintenance, system repairs, and upgrades using a team-oriented approach.
Conduct daily inspections of systems and equipment to identify corrective or preventive maintenance needs and report malfunctions or safety hazards.
Administer and monitor employee records, including work time, attendance, and safety practices, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Report policy, safety, or procedural violations to supervision as necessary.
Develop, maintain, and monitor maintenance records, equipment history, and inventory levels.
Purchase materials and equipment and oversee employee purchasing activities.
Prepare employee performance evaluations, corrective actions, and recognition recommendations in coordination with the Superintendent.
Provide training and instruction to employees on maintenance procedures, equipment, and safety protocols.
Attend technical and supervisory training to maintain current knowledge of industry practices and technologies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
