About The Position

Verve is seeking a Chief Growth Officer (CGO) to lead the company's next phase of profitable consumer growth. This role is distinct from a traditional CMO, focusing on the end-to-end system that drives long-term enterprise value. The CGO will oversee brand marketing and creative teams, integrating consumer behavior, product, pricing, distribution, e-commerce, retail, acquisition, retention, and unit economics into a cohesive growth strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in growth, strategy, ecommerce, CPG, retail, or specialty food & beverage.
  • Proven track record of scaling consumer businesses with direct accountability over revenue, bottom-line growth, and enterprise value.
  • Strategic mindset with a rigorous, data-driven approach to decision-making and cross-functional leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to break down silos between marketing, product, creative, sales, and operations.
  • Strong marketing and brand intuition and high brand positioning.
  • Mastery of omnichannel growth mechanics, spanning DTC unit economics, subscription models, retail, and wholesale.
  • Deep financial and analytical capabilities, with proven experience in cohort modeling, capital allocation, and P&L optimization.
  • Ability to translate complex consumer data insights into actionable, high-ROI commercial strategies.
  • Executive presence and team leadership, functioning as a visionary leader who unifies cross-functional teams to execute fast, functional campaigns.
  • Premium brand sensibility, with the strategic ability to scale revenue without relying on aggressive discounting.
  • Strong fluency across modern tech ecosystems, including CRM, CDP, CMS, BI, ecommerce, and subscription management tools.
  • Deep operational capability to execute strategies directly without relying on a fully staffed team.

Responsibilities

  • Define Verve’s Next Growth Engine: Develop and own a multi-year growth strategy identifying high-impact opportunities to materially alter the company’s growth trajectory, addressing customer acquisition, household penetration, DTC, retail/wholesale balance, channel distribution, new categories, and trade-offs between acquisition, retention, and brand investment.
  • Own Profitable Consumer Growth: Establish the commercial and economic framework for growth, maintaining direct P&L accountability across revenue, gross/contribution margins, CAC, LTV, payback periods, new vs. repeat customer growth, retention, channel unit economics, promotional efficiency, and product/customer profitability to ensure maximum return on growth capital.
  • Build an Integrated Growth Engine: Lead the full consumer lifecycle from awareness and acquisition to repeat purchase, loyalty, and advocacy, unifying customer data pipelines across all channels to build a comprehensive consumer view.
  • Reimagine the Role of DTC: Transform DTC from a transactional storefront into a strategic consumer intelligence engine, focusing on conversion optimization, subscription revenue, LTV, first-party data capture, product validation, and using direct customer insights to inform enterprise strategy.
  • Create an Integrated Omnichannel Strategy: Develop a cohesive consumer journey across DTC, retail, and wholesale channels, aligning pricing, distribution, and availability to capture incremental demand without cannibalization or brand commoditization. Partner with Sales and Operations to operationalize distribution growth.
  • Protect and Increase Brand Equity: Manage the balance between Distribution × Availability × Price × Product × Brand Equity, making deliberate choices regarding pricing, promotions, packaging, product architecture, retail experience, and scarcity to ensure commercial expansion strengthens Verve’s premium positioning.
  • Build New Growth Platforms: Identify, validate, and scale major new revenue streams beyond the existing core by evaluating and executing on new consumer segments, consumption occasions, product categories, business models, strategic partnerships, geographic expansion, or novel routes to market.
  • Turn Consumer Data Into Business Strategy: Build advanced analytical capabilities to understand cohort behavior, purchase drivers, churn, product-level acquisition/retention performance, and price sensitivity, shifting the company from historical reporting to predictive investment modeling.
  • Lead Innovation From Consumer Opportunity: Establish a disciplined innovation framework (Consumer Need × Market Opportunity × Product Proposition × Economics × Test × Scale) in partnership with Product, Coffee, Retail, Operations, and Brand to solve consumer needs and unlock incremental revenue.
  • Allocate Growth Capital: Direct strategic investment across brand, acquisition, retention, technology, retail, innovation, and customer experience, with the authority to scale high-performing initiatives and sunset underperforming ones.
  • Build and Lead the Growth Organization: Design, recruit, and lead a high-performing cross-functional team across Growth Marketing, Ecommerce, CRM/Lifecycle, Analytics, Consumer Insights, Brand, Creative, and Partnerships, eliminating operational silos between brand, sales, marketing, and product.
