About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides financial strategic leadership for two similarly sized, surgery-focused hospital facilities within the Surgery Partners network. The CFO assists the Hospital CEO and other hospital leaders with the financial and legal aspects of the business and has operational responsibility for accounting, purchasing, revenue integrity, health information systems, and patient access. Given the facilities’ size, the CFO maintains hands-on expertise in supervised areas and may assist with operational execution while balancing those demands with strategic management responsibilities. The role reports to the Division CFO and has a dotted-line reporting relationship with the facility CEOs, and is ultimately accountable for the organization’s financial strategic success. The CFO leads financial management, budgeting, treasury and cash management, financial reporting, revenue integrity, purchasing, and materials management. The role oversees relevant department leaders and teams, develops and recommends budgets and financial plans, monitors performance and expenditures, and establishes effective financial and management controls. The CFO also recruits, trains, supports, and evaluates staff in areas of operational responsibility; works with hospital leadership, Board members, physicians, staff, and Surgery Partners support functions; and helps ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or healthcare administration and 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in hospital finance. A master’s degree is preferred. CPA, CMA, or Certified Manager of Patient Account credentials are preferred but not required. The CFO must be knowledgeable in healthcare regulatory compliance, central supply management, SOX compliance, and GAAP, and must have Excel, computer proficiency, and data analysis skills. The role also requires demonstrated leadership, budget development, strategic planning, communication, relationship-building, confidentiality, judgment, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize and work effectively in a stressful environment. The stated exempt salary range is $180,000–$280,000, with compensation determined by qualifications, experience, and bonus eligibility. The position has physical requirements that include lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling more than 10 pounds, as well as specified movements and sensory and communication activities. The work environment may involve exposure to healthcare-related hazards, including chemicals, sharps, blood and body fluids, infectious materials, radiation, and moving mechanical parts; protective equipment may be necessary. Required immunization records or evidence of immunity must be provided before the first scheduled workday. The employer conducts a pre-employment drug screen, including marijuana, and maintains a drug-free workplace.
