About The Position

Directs all financial activities of the organization. Responsible for fiscal and budgetary control of Ascension DePaul Services (ADSSA). Responsible for financial analysis, reporting and interpretation of financial performance for all the business lines of the organization. Serves as an advisor to each of the Directors, President/CEO and Board of Directors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, required
  • Five years’ experience preferably in Health or Social Service industry
  • Knowledgeable of pre and post federal grant award reporting (OMB Circs)
  • Possess Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver License

Responsibilities

  • Understand and manifest the mission, vision, and values of Ascension DePaul Services (ADSSA)
  • Reports to the President/CEO and serves on the Senior Leadership Team
  • Actively manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of ADSSA
  • Responsible for the preparation of all financial statements including profit and loss statements by business line, consolidated balance sheet, 990 reporting, and any other financial summaries required by Ascension
  • Participate in all internal planning regarding proposed program expansion to ensure alignment of program, outreach and training plans with financial projections
  • Establish annual priorities and benchmarks and conduct regular reporting, measuring projections against actual performance
  • Keep up with new trends in the financial industry by attending conferences, participating in professional development and sharing this information with the Senior Leadership Team
  • Manage the Billing, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions and the integration of billing information from the Electronic Health Record and other financial systems into the accounting system
  • Monitor changes in legal, regulatory and administrative environments and implement changes in procedures and needed to maintain compliance while maximizing operational and financial results
  • Collaborate with the President/CEO, COO, Directors and/or the Director of Development on grant writing and grant related budget preparations
  • Responsible for ensuring all grant draw downs and reporting are completed timely and accurately
  • Review efficiency/effectiveness of employee benefit programs, seeking approaches to lower costs where possible and consistent with required quality levels
  • Responsible for all local, state, and federal grant reporting requirements, including but not limited to A133 post award reporting
  • Serves as a collaborative partner within all ADSSA departments to assist in generating and implementing revenue generating processes
  • Knowledgeable in following and executing all widely accepted accounting principles for all new sources of revenue
  • Responsible for establishing and developing strategies, policies and procedures that will enhance revenue for all business lines, which includes expanding billable services, acceptance of various insurance options, and, staying current on the latest revenue generating accounting guidelines
  • Develop and present to the Directors and the President/CEO, operational and financial models which will predict financial activity for all business line
  • Serve as liaison between National Ascension financial reporting teams and ADSSA
  • Responsible for automating all functions performed by ADSSA accounting staff
  • Establish and recommend to management, major financial strategies, objectives, and policies for ADSSA
  • Provide financial planning, interpret financial data, conduct monthly CFO reviews with all Directors, and advise President/CEO and Senior Leadership Team on financial and operating issues
  • Prepare monthly reports which summarize and forecast the organization’s business activity and financial position for Directors, the President/CEO and Board of Directors
  • Direct preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification by collaborating working with Directors
  • Provide management and Board of Directors with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress on all of ADSSA’s business lines
  • Serves as liaison between ADSSA and all auditors; prepares all necessary audit responses, presents audit findings to the President/CEO and the Board of Directors. Ensures that audit responses are implemented and adhered to by all of ADSSA’s Directors
  • Prepare financial reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Maintain banking relationships with external banking partners.
  • Ensures that all cash management processes, audit and controls are in place
  • Develop a strategy for accepting and recording restricted revenue and follow all widely accepted accounting principles for restricted donations
  • Develop and implement Endowment Spending policies and calculations
  • Serve as a staff member on the Audit/Finance Committee and work closely with the Chair of the Audit/Finance committee
  • Assists in external vendor contract negotiations
  • Uses management practices that promote collegiality, teamwork and collaborative decision making among staff
  • Attends Board meetings and staff meetings as appropriate
  • Performs related duties and fulfills other responsibilities as required
